As she crossed the border she looked forward at the enornmous mountains of her Guatemalan chapter and then back to Mexico,
fingers slip away and blue eyes close
When she passed 3000m through the clouds and alongside the wilting corn,
She knew she was far away from the tortugas
As she watched the old woman leather faced and crooked felt hat dip with the weight of the wood on her back,
She understood she was far from the broken hamaca
As she skidded along the jungles' mud, passed from mountain to mountain like a giant game of catch,
She realised that it was not the sandy track of the night beach
Everywhere was a camionete, but they weren't driving
And she saw pets replaced by things from the market
One passed through the clouds
One passed through the caves
